ISTORIA at Northfield Mount Hermon, Massachusetts

Author : ISTORIA

Date : 31 May 2026

Literature should not be confined in one region in the world. Its tales should be spread out into the world, read by every eye and its lessons sinking into every soul. Today marks the first step of ISTORIA taking up its pen and writing in a different school, a different state, a different country: Northfield Mount Hermon, Massachusetts.

The brunt of the mission lay on our member abroad: Samuel Kay. His work "The Man on the Thirteenth Floor" is avaliable on this website, and is one of the stories he printed out when he shared the collections of ISTORIA to an entirely new audience. He also printed out the entirety of "Pandora's Box" and "Oh, the Irony!", including stories such as "A Day in Life","THE KNIGHT", "after the storm, when the flowers bloom", "The Tree Doctor", and more from ISTORIA's hard-working writers.

With a printed stack of stories, a table, and a bottle of Pepsi, Samuel Kay set out his ISTORIA stand.

"So i just set up around 11am to 1pm along the road where people went up to get lunch," notes Sam. "It was really hot, like 30 degrees and sunny."

As the day went by, the stand began attracting interest. "People were interested/confused because the club wasn't actually from our school," Samuel described. "So had to tell people that it was actually from writers overseas. A lot of teachers were interested."

While ISTORIA stretching its wings is certainly a good sign, many note that the event could be much bigger. "A lot of people were busy with finals," Sam said. Moreover, more steps could be taken to better officialize the process. "If I were to make it more official I would get people, make a club... and then actually get a good place with people to help." Currently, Samuel is the only ISTORIA member in Northfield Mount Hermon, which limited the scope of the event.

However, as a precursor to potential further participation, it was a resounding success. It showed that ISTORIA can be taken to places around the world. Moreover, it demonstrates the transformative property of literature that we all trasure - the ability to cross distances with bridges of ink and paper.

We hope to make a much larger event next time, and we thank Samuel for his diligent performance! See you next time, Northfield Mount Hermon.
